Governance Overview

This page provides an overview of the governance system that powers RWAPool, including its structure, participants, and decision-making processes.

Governance Philosophy

RWAPool is governed by a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that enables token holders to collectively manage the protocol. The governance system is designed with several core principles:

  • Decentralization: Distributing decision-making power across the community
  • Transparency: Ensuring all governance actions are visible and auditable
  • Inclusivity: Allowing all stakeholders to participate in governance
  • Security: Protecting the protocol from malicious governance actions
  • Efficiency: Enabling timely decision-making while maintaining security

Governance Token

The RWAPool governance token (RWA) is the cornerstone of the governance system:

  • Token Standard: ERC-20 on Ethereum, with cross-chain bridges to other networks
  • Total Supply: 100,000,000 RWA
  • Token Utility:
    • Voting on governance proposals
    • Staking for enhanced voting power
    • Earning a share of protocol fees
    • Participating in liquidity mining programs

Governance Structure

RWAPool governance operates through a multi-tiered structure:

Token Holders

All RWA token holders can:

  • Vote on proposals
  • Delegate voting power
  • Submit proposals (if meeting minimum threshold)
  • Participate in discussion forums

Governance Council

A elected group of 9 representatives who:

  • Review and provide feedback on proposals
  • Help coordinate governance activities
  • Represent different stakeholder groups
  • Serve 6-month terms with staggered elections

Working Groups

Specialized teams focused on specific areas:

  • Protocol Development: Technical improvements and upgrades
  • Risk Management: Asset risk assessment and parameters
  • Treasury Management: Financial operations and investments
  • Growth & Marketing: Ecosystem expansion and user acquisition
  • Legal & Compliance: Regulatory considerations and compliance

Governance Process

Proposal Lifecycle

  1. Discussion Phase

    • Ideas are discussed in the forum
    • Community feedback is gathered
    • Initial specification is drafted
  2. Formal Proposal

    • Proposal is formally submitted on-chain
    • Requires minimum of 100,000 RWA (1% of circulating supply) to submit
    • Includes detailed specification and implementation plan
  3. Review Period

    • 3-day period for community review
    • Governance Council provides feedback
    • Technical review by core developers
  4. Voting Period

    • 5-day on-chain voting period
    • Options: For, Against, Abstain
    • Voting power based on token holdings and staking duration
  5. Execution

    • If approved, 2-day timelock before execution
    • Automated execution for parameter changes
    • Manual implementation for complex changes
  6. Monitoring

    • Results are tracked and documented
    • Post-implementation review
    • Adjustments if necessary

Voting Power

Voting power in RWAPool governance is determined by:

  • Base Voting Power: 1 RWA = 1 vote
  • Staking Multiplier: Locking tokens increases voting power
    • 6-month lock: 1.5x multiplier
    • 1-year lock: 2x multiplier
    • 2-year lock: 3x multiplier
    • 4-year lock: 4x multiplier
  • Delegation: Users can delegate voting power to others

Proposal Types

rwapool.xyz governance handles several types of proposals:

  • Parameter Changes: Adjusting protocol parameters like fees or thresholds
  • Protocol Upgrades: Implementing new features or improvements
  • Asset Onboarding: Adding new asset types to the protocol
  • Treasury Allocation: Distributing funds from the community treasury
  • Governance Changes: Modifying the governance system itself
  • Emergency Actions: Addressing critical security or operational issues
